Desire Quotes
How do we preplan our bodies and our lives? Through our own karma. Every moment we do something, then the impression of that karma remains within us. The sum total of these karmic impressions directs us where to go and what to do. For example, going to a spiritual retreat was an aggregation of karma. First, the thought appeared; perhaps someone told you about it. Then the desire to go was manifest. Next you planned how to have a holiday from work, how to arrange money, how to travel, and what clothes you needed. You had to perform many karmas for just one desire, and the sum total of that karma and the aggregation of the planning is called prakalpita, pre-thought or previously planned.
If you want to see God, kill desires. Desires are in the mind. When you have a desire for something, don’t act on it and it will go away. If you desire to drink this cup of tea, don’t, and the desire for it will go away.
The soul's first adventure is the fight between two ideas: the wish to return to earth in a human form, and the desire to feel the freedom of having no form.

We also decide where to be born; it is our plan, nobody else’s. The same holds true for the kind of life we want to live. When we travel, we decide where to go. When we go on a trip, we arrange many things. Similarly, when we travel to earth we arrange and prepare our bodies, our families, what kind of life we will have; it was all our doing. That is why it is said, ittham prakalpite dehe: “In this body that was preplanned by you.” Thus, we need not be unhappy with our bodies. Why? We receive what we wanted. We receive the body we desired. If we want to experience freedom we have to cherish this desire in us. Ittham prakalpite dehe: “This body is our thought, our creation.”
The extra luggage of indiscriminate dreams, desires and attachments will make your life's journey miserable.
Buddha's doctrine: Man suffers because of his craving to possess and keep forever things which are essentially impermanent...this frustration of the desire to possess is the immediate cause of suffering.
Nothing perceivable is real. Your attachment is your bondage. You cannot control the future. There is no such thing as free will. Will is bondage. You identify yourself with your desires and become their slave.
Through our karma we made some plans and acquired a body. We arrived in this world decorated with beautiful ornaments. What are the ornaments? It is said, anadi vasana malah: “You have a garland, a necklace, made of desires without beginning.” Vasana means “desires” and anadi means “without beginning”; thus, we have a beautiful necklace of desires without beginning as well as endless ambition. But this garland is not new. Anadimeans that from time immemorial we have been carrying the vasanas, the desires, life after life.
If we feel inwardly strong, we will have no need or desire to speak ill of others.
To converse with You, O King of glory, no third person is needed, You are always ready in the Sacrament of the Altar to give audience to all. All who desire You always find You there, and converse with You face to face.
When we love there are no barriers, no desires, no needs, no wants.

Bliss is not something to be got. On the other hand you are always Bliss. This desire [for Bliss] is born of the sense of incompleteness. To whom is this sense of incompleteness? Enquire. In deep sleep you were blissful. Now you are not so. What has interposed between that Bliss and this non-bliss? It is the ego. Seek its source and find you are Bliss.
My actual experience is not different. It is my evaluation and attitude that differ. I see the same world as you do, but not the same way. There is nothing mysterious about it. Everybody sees the world through the idea he has of himself. As you think yourself to be, so you think the world to be. If you imagine yourself as separate from the world, the world will appear as separate from you and you will experience desire and fear. I do not see the world as separate from me and so there is nothing for me to desire, or fear.
One has to go beyond the mind to experience the spiritual bliss of desirelessness.
All action is prayer. All trees are desire-fulfilling. All water is the Ganga. All land is Varanasi. Love everything.
Some form of self-discipline is necessary to transmute material desires into spiritual aspirations.
The world does not yield to changing. By its very nature it is painful and transient. See it as it is and divest yourself of all desire and fear. When the world does not hold and bind you, it becomes an abode of joy and beauty. You can be happy in the world only when you are free of it.
As worldly thoughts diminish, thoughts of God increase. Normally, the mind is all the time desiring these worldly things. As the desires are cut out one by one, the peace becomes stronger.
Your desire for perfection is the cause of anger. Leave room for imperfection. Perfection in action is almost impossible.
