In the course of time one does not feel even the existence of God. After attaining enlightenment one sees that gods and deities are all Maya.

The trouble with Westerners is that they want to witness their own enlightenment.

Zen is the only religion in the world that teaches sudden enlightenment. It says that enlightenment takes no time, it can happen in a single, split second.

In your everyday life you always have opportunities for enlightenment. If you go to the rest room, there is a chance to attain enlightenment. When you cook, there is a chance to attain enlightenment. When you clean the floor, there is a chance to attain enlightenment.

Enlightenment remains unrealized so long as it is considered as a specific state to be attained, and for which there are standards of success.

Unity is divinity, purity is enlightenment.

Not creating delusions is enlightenment.

Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.

Pray to God with tears in your eyes whenever you want illumination or find yourself faced with any doubt or difficulty. The Lord will remove all your impurities, assuage your mental anguish, and give you enlightenment.

It is not after we understand the truth that we attain enlightenment. To realize the truth is to live - to exist here and now.

We do not slight the idea of enlightenment, but the most important thing is this moment, not some day in the future. We have to make our effort in this moment. This is the most important thing for our practice.

It is a special kind of enlightenment to have this feeling that the usual, the way things normally are, is odd, uncanny and highly improbable. G.K. Chesterton once said that it is one thing to be amazed at a gorgon or a griffin, creatures which do not exist; but it is quite another and much higher thing to be amazed at a rhinoceros or a giraffe, creatures which do exist and look as if they don't. This feeling of universal oddity includes a basic and intense wonder about the sense of things.
