In Satyayuga Lahiri Mahasay was born as Satyasukrita, in tretayuga he was Munindra; in dwaparayuga Karunamaya; and in kaliyuga he was Kabir. Later, he became Shyama Charan.

The only duty of the most merciful persons is to transform the degraded taste of people. If you can save even one person from the great force of MahaMaya, then that will be a greater act of philanthropy than opening millions of hospitals.

Maya arranges the material world in a way to keep us away from Krishna.

Maya can sound just like Krisna; we cannot differentiate unless we are free from all motivations for material enjoyment.

God has revealed to me that only the Paramatman, whom the Vedas describe as the Pure Soul, is as immutable as Mount Sumeru, unattached, and beyond pain and pleasure. There is much confusion in this world of His maya. One can by no means say that 'this' will come after 'that' or 'this' will produce 'that'.

Space-time-causation, or name-and-form, is what is called Maya.

All is God's will, but Maya prevents you from knowing it's all God's will. He gave us eyes, ears, nose, mouth. But He also gave us wisdom to use them to attain God.

If we examine our own lives, we find that sometimes we are being used as the instruments of maya, to create disharmony and discord among other Vaishnavas. We become the greatest enemy of Krishna, in the name of His devotee.

The psychic being and the mental being, Manomaya Purusha, are not the same. The psychic being is behind the mind, it is what the Westerners call the soul. It takes interest in the movements of the mind and the vital only when there is a harmony between these movements and the truth above. The knowledge of the psychic being is deeper.

Maya is so thorough, just like water. If there is one little crack, the water will just find its way immediately to that crack – the problem is our consciousness has so many cracks.

The person who survives the clutches of maya is the person who prays each and every moment for Krishna to save him.

In the course of time one does not feel even the existence of God. After attaining enlightenment one sees that gods and deities are all Maya.

Till you reach the state of jnana and thus wake out of maya you must do social service by relieving suffering whenever you see it. But even then you must do it without ahankara, i.e., without the sense of 'I am the doer', but with the feeling 'I am the Lord's tool'.

Essentially the living entity within material existence has two choices. To be a puppet of maya on the strings of the three modes of material nature or to be a puppet of Krishna on the strings of His love, and compassion.

There are so many thoughts in the mind. Thought after thought after thought. But there is one thought that is continuous, though it is mostly sub-conscious: 'I am the body'. This is the string on which all other thoughts are threaded. Once we identify ourselves with the body by thinking this thought, maya follows. It also follows that if we cease to identify with the body, maya will not affect us anymore.

What, however, left a deep impression on me was the reading of the Ramayana before my father. During part of his illness my father was in Porbandar. There every evening he used to listen to the Ramayana.

Worldly beautiful things are poisonous. If you see them outwardly, they attract you; but if you see them inwardly, then, they are renounced. This is maya, or restlessness.

When Divine Love becomes well developed, Ignorance (Maya) begins to be withdrawn.

Spirit vibrated into matter; hence, both Spirit and matter exist. Matter, however, does not exist in the way that it appears to us. It exists as we see it owing to the delusive force of maya, which makes the indivisible Spirit seem finite and divisible to all appearances. Matter has existence in the same delusive way as does a mirage in the desert.

Emotional attachment to Maya is totally painful, this is a bad bargain.

A person may have no relatives anywhere, but Mahamaya may make him keep a cat and thus make him worldly. This is how She plays!

It’s easy to say that you are in Maya. The real challenge is to inspire a person in such a way that he comes out of Maya.

Inner fulfillment gives strength to fight maya.
