Meditation depends upon the strength of mind. It must be unceasing even when one is engaged in work. Particular time for it is meant for novices.

When one sincerely strives for inner fulfilment for a good period of time, one progresses in the path of perfection. Then one attains self-realization.

Once gone, time never returns.

Coincidentally, or by God’s will, both women died at the same time, one thinking about the dead cockroach, the other one thinking of God. Now both were taken for judgment before Yama, the lord of death, and Chitragupta, his messenger, where they would be told who would receive what and who would go where.

Death is at any time blessed but it is twice blessed for a warrior who dies for his cause, that is, truth.

A hidden Bliss is at the root of things. A mute Delight regards Time's countless works: To house God's joy in things Space gave wide room, To house God's joy in self our souls were born.

Hard times build determination and inner strength. Through them, we can also come to appreciate the uselessness of anger.

Silence is sometimes the best answer.

Life without zazen is like winding your clock without setting it. It runs perfectly well, but it doesn't tell time.

Sometimes a great teacher teaches his students through silence. The best and deepest of the teachings is not communicated through books, speech, or actions, but through silence. That special teaching is understood only when you are silent.

An inch of time on the sundial is worth more than a foot of jade.

As to the aridity you are suffering from, it seems to me our Lord is treating you like someone He considers strong: He wants to test you and see if you love Him as much at times of aridity as when He sends you consolations. I think this is a very great favor for God to show you.

All you need to do is recognize your true position as the witness. You only have to do this for some time, until the spell is broken. Even after the spell is broken these mental tendencies may arise, but without any power, just like you can see the moon in the daylight.

Being rich is an obstacle to loving. When you are rich, you want to continue to be rich, and so you end up devoting all your time, all your energy, in your daily life to stay rich.

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. — Psalm 9:9

This is what I believe: That we are not pushed from behind by the casual unfolding of historical necessity, but that we are in the grip of an attractor of some sort, which lies ahead of us in time.

When we have our body and mind in order, everything else will exist in the right place, in the right way. But usually, without being aware of it, we try to change something other than ourselves; we try to order things outside us. But it is impossible to organize things if you yourself are not in order. When you do things in the right way, at the right time, everything else will be organized.

The Avatar does not as a rule interfere with the working out of human destinies. He will do so only in times of grave necessity - when He deems it absolutely necessary from His all-encompassing point of view. For a single alteration in the planned and imprinted pattern in which each line and dot is interdependent, means a shaking up and a re-linking of an unending chain of possibilities and events.

Synchronistic phenomena prove the simultaneous occurrence of meaningful equivalences in heterogenous, causally unrelated processes; in other words, they prove that a content perceived by an observer can, at the same time, be represented by an outside event, without any causal connection. From this it follows either that the psyche cannot be localized in time, or that space is relative to the psyche.

Nature has come to a point where now, unless you take individual responsibility, you cannot grow. More than this nature cannot do. It has done enough. It has given you life, it has given you opportunity; now how to use it, it has left up to you. Meditation is your freedom, not a biological necessity. You can learn in a certain period of time every day to strengthen meditation, to make it stronger - but carry the flavor of it the whole day.

Man has no individual 'I'. But there are, instead, hundreds and thousands of separate small 'I's, very often entirely unknown to one another, never coming into contact, or, on the contrary, hostile to each other, mutually exclusive and incompatible. Each minute, each moment, man is saying or thinking, 'I'. And each time his 'I' is different. Just now it was a thought, now it is a desire, now a sensation, now another thought, and so on, endlessly. Man is a plurality. Man's name is legion.

The soul is not ruled by time and space. The soul is infinite. It blends with the One in infinity.

Love is your song - you can sing it any time. It is like breathing. Nobody is going to take it away from you; nobody can take it away from you.
