If thou wilt make a man happy, add not unto his riches but take away from his desires.

Everything starts with prayer. Love to pray-feel the need to pray often during the day and take the trouble to pray. If you want to pray better, you must pray more. The more you pray, the easier it becomes. Perfect prayer does not consist of many words but in the fervor of the desire which raises the heart to Jesus.

If you sleep, Desire grows in you Like a vine in the forest. Like a monkey in the forest You jump from tree to tree, Never finding the fruit - From life to life, Never finding peace. If you are filled with desire Your sorrows swell Like the grass after the rain. But if you subdue desire Your sorrows shall fall from you Like drops of water from a lotus flower.

Increase and widen your desires till nothing but reality can fulfill them. It is not desire that is wrong, but its narrowness and smallness. Desire is devotion. By all means be devoted to the real, the infinite, the eternal heart of being. Transform desire into love. All you want is to be happy. All your desires, whatever they may be are expressions of your longing for happiness.

The way to liberation lies through this realization of the Self, by God-communion and by remaining in this God-aware state of the soul while performing dutiful actions. Any individual can reach this supreme actionless state by the renunciation of all fruits of actions: performing all dutiful acts without harbouring in his heart any likes and dislikes, possessing no material desires, and feeling God, not the ego, as the Doer of all actions.

It's so important to consider this question: What do I desire?

A wish is a desire without energy.

With desires, Hatha yoga does not work. Today no one really knows Hatha yoga. It can't work through books. They used to fast and use herbs.

If our desires, words and actions are offered in the spirit of service to the supreme Lord Sri Krishna, then Krishna will personally reciprocate with His love.

We should understand that this desire to be the controller, the enjoyer, and the proprietor, it is the venom of the snake of illusion. It kills one’s propensity for the loving service of the Supreme Lord.

I am convinced that one should tell one's spiritual director if one has a great desire for Communion, for Our Lord does not come from Heaven every day to stay in a golden ciborium; He comes to find another heaven, the heaven of our soul in which He loves to dwell.

We are decorated with the ornaments of endless desires. They are around our necks — my neck, everyone’s neck. However, these ornaments are not visible to ordinary people, only to the wise. We have decorated ourselves with a garland of endless desires mistakenly thinking that we would be happy if we had a nice house, a nice job, and nice clothes.

Whatever is done lovingly, with righteous purity and with peace of mind, is a good action. Everything which is done with the stain of desire and with agitation filling the mind is classified as a bad action.

What unites all beings is their desire for happiness.

Devotion to your goal makes you live a clean and orderly life, given to search for truth and to helping people, and realization makes noble virtue easy and spontaneous, by removing for good the obstacles in the shape of desires and fears and wrong ideas.

Most of your desires are not really about yourself. You just picked them up from your social surroundings.

Accept that living in the present moment, with your present desires, is the best, the highest thing you can do.

If, like the prophet Noah, you have patience in the distress of the flood, calamity turns aside, and the desire of a thousand years comes forth.

The desire to know your own soul will end all other desires.

The mind is a big storehouse of thoughts. Even if you desire to empty that storehouse, you cannot do so. Instead of trying to empty it, think new pure thoughts, and the old impure thoughts will vacate.

All the powers of soul and body, memory, understanding, and will, interior and exterior senses, the desires of spirit and of sense, all work in and by love.

When you are fully present with everyone you meet, you relinquish the conceptual identity you made for them - your interpretation of who they are and what they did in the past - and are able to interact without the egoic movements of desire and fear. Attention, which is alert stillness, is the key.

Space and silence are synonymous. Joy, fulfillment brings the silence. Desire brings noise. Silence is the cure, because in silence you come back to the source, and that creates joy.
