If you observe awareness steadily, this awareness itself becomes the Guru that will reveal the Truth.

Let no man in the world live in delusion. Without a Guru none can cross over to the other shore.

If religion and life depend upon books or upon the existence of any prophet whatsoever, then perish all religion and books! Religion is in us. No books or teachers can do more than help us to find it, and even without them we can get all truth within. You have gratitude for books and teachers without bondage to them; and worship your Guru as God, but do not obey him blindly; love him all you will, but think for yourself. No blind belief can save you, work out your own salvation. Have only one idea of God - that He is an eternal help.

All realization is possible by the practice of the First Kriya. One is required to practice strictly according to the instructions received from one's Guru personally.

All that a guru can tell you is: 'My dear Sir, you are quite mistaken about yourself. You are not the person you take yourself to be.'

The guru preceptor is present in all forms. All sadhanas are the form of the guru. But even if someone is leading you down the wrong path, then that is something quite different. [If a sadhu is misguiding, he is not the form of the guru].

Gurus impart the best of their knowledge in silence. When you are in silence, they communicate with you through silence, and in silence. For the student whose mind is in tune, that teaching is the finest of teachings. This silent communication can happen no matter where you are physically, whether you are 10,000 miles away or very close.

I remember my first visit with my guru. He had shown that he read my mind. So I looked at the grass and I thought, My god, he's going to know all the things I don't want people to know. I was really embarrassed. Then I looked up and he was looking directly at me with unconditional love.

I bow at His Feet constantly, and pray to Him, the Guru, the True Guru, has shown me the Way.

The innermost light, shining peacefully and timelessly in the heart, is the real Guru. All others merely show the way.

Those who worship and adore the Lord through the Guru's Word forget all their pain and suffering.

The thing is that the ego cannot cure itself of its own malady of egoism; it's already infected by the disease itself. And that is why it is necessary to go to a guru who knows God and by absorbing his consciousness into yourself, you discover that you aren't this ego. You cross that abyss and you find that you are infinite.

In the light of the sun, in the light of the moon, and in the light of the stars there is no discrimination. The light within you has the power of discrimination. You can use that light to see the darkest corners of your inner chamber. For that you do not need outer guidance. The purpose of a guide, guru, or teacher is to introduce you to that light.

For a seeker, Guru Purnima is a day of significance, is a day of New Year. It is the day to review one’s progress on the spiritual path and renew one’s determination and focus on the goal, and to resolve what one wants to do in the coming year.

Even if you have achieved a highly advanced state, there are still obstacles on the path you must overcome. This is why one should maintain faith in the guru preceptor.

Always watch the guru who resides within, and who is constantly guiding and inspiring you.

Aug 15, 1874 - It is not possible to achieve Abhaya pada, "the state of fearlessness" without the help of Guru. One must hold onto Oneself at the house of Tranquility, without which, one cannot achieve the Abhaya pada, the eternal Realization of the ultimate Self.
