Light Quotes
If all your energies are focused in one direction, enlightenment is not far away. After all, what you are seeking is already within you.
Learn to identify with the source of light and life.
There is no enlightenment outside of daily life.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. — Matthew 5:14
He has created the poor savage with no guide but natural law, and it is to their hearts that He deigns to stoop. They are His wild flowers whose homeliness delights Him.
In tribulation immediately draw near to God with confidence, and you will receive strength, enlightenment, and instruction.
We understand why children are afraid of darkness ... but why are men afraid of light?
You are a divine being. You matter, you count. You come from realms of unimaginable power and light, and you will return to those realms.
A beneficent person is like a fountain watering the earth, and spreading fertility; it is, therefore, more delightful to give than to receive.
If we really prefer basic sanity or enlightenment, it's irritatingly possible to get into it.
So somebody comes along and gets to me. They get me angry or uptight or they awaken some desire in me, wow am I delighted. They got me. And that’s my work on myself. If I am angry with you because your behavior doesn’t fill my model of how you should be, that’s my problem for having models. No expectations, no upset. If you are a liar and a cheat, that’s your Karma. If I’m cheated, that’s my work on myself.
You are the luminous mystery in which the entire universe with its forms and phenomena arises and subsides. When this realization dawns there is a complete transformation of your personal self into your universal self . . . the complete loss of all fear, including death. You have become a being who radiates love the same way the sun radiates light. You have finally arrived at the place from which your journey began.
All you need is already within you, only you must approach your self with reverence and love. Self-condemnation and self-distrust are grievous errors. Your constant flight from pain and search for pleasure is a sign of love you bear for your self, all I plead with you is this: make love of your self perfect. Deny yourself nothing -- glue your self infinity and eternity and discover that you do not need them; you are beyond.
So the single most vital step on your journey toward enlightenment is this: learn to disidentify from your mind. Every time you create a gap in the stream of mind, the light of your consciousness grows stronger. One day you may catch yourself smiling at the voice in your head, as you would smile at the antics of a child. This means that you no longer take the content of your mind all that seriously, as your sense of self does not depend on it.
The rishis of old attained the Knowledge of Brahman. One cannot have this so long as there is the slightest trace of worldliness. How hard the rishis laboured ! Early in the morning they would go away from the hermitage, and would spend the whole day in solitude, meditating on Brahman. At night they would return to the hermitage and eat a little fruit or roots. They kept their mind aloof from the objects of sight, hearing, touch, and other things of a worldly nature. Only thus did they realize Brahman as their own inner consciousness.
When the senses are well-controlled and withdrawn from contact with the objects of the world, then sense perceptions no longer create images in the mind. The mind is then trained in one-pointedness. When the mind no longer recalls thought-patterns from the unconscious, a balanced state of mind leads to a higher state of consciousness. A perfect state of serenity established in sattva is the highest state of enlightenment. The practice of meditation and non-attachment are the two keynotes. A very firm conviction is essential for establishing a definite philosophy of life.
People say that practicing Zen is difficult, but there is a misunderstanding as to why. It is not difficult because it is hard to sit in the cross-legged position, or to attain enlightenment. It is difficult because it is hard to keep our mind pure and our practice pure in its fundamental sense.
To have a developed intellect is always helpful if one can enlighten it from above and turn it to a divine use.
In times of tragedies, our duty is to lend a helping hand to those in grief and thus light lamps of kindness and compassion.
I saw a blue color in the light; in the blue, I saw a white Spot (Bindu); and in the white Spot, I saw a man who manifested himself as a Hindu, English man, etc.
Only in our creative acts do we step forth into the light and see ourselves whole and complete.
Everything is shown up by being exposed to the light, and whatever is exposed to the light itself becomes light.
There are, strictly speaking, no enlightened people, there is only enlightened activity.
