Mind Quotes
Meditation applies the brakes to the mind.
To be free from ignorance you need knowledge. The mind should turn inward. Silence takes the mind inward and helps you to recognize who you are.
Married or not married - no matter. If your mind is pure then you will attain God-realization.
By the mind one is bound; by the mind one is freed. ... He who asserts with strong conviction: "I am not bound, I am free," becomes free.
As a broken microphone cannot broadcast a message, so a restless mind cannot transmit prayers to God.
When we turn the mind inwards, God manifests as the inner consciousness.
An active mind needs an outlet. If it stops by itself from within, well and good; otherwise one should not try to stop this by force.
The life of action need not be renounced. If you meditate for an hour or two every day you can then carry on with your duties. If you meditate in the right manner then the current of mind induced will continue to flow even in the midst of your work.
For each and every person, our Lord and Master provides sustenance. Why are you so afraid, O mind? The flamingos fly hundreds of miles, leaving their young ones behind. Who feeds them, and who teaches them to feed themselves? Have you ever thought of this in your mind?
If you think your body and mind are two, that is wrong; if you think that they are one, that is also wrong. Our body and mind are both two and one.
If the mind could cease measuring itself against the hero, the perfect, the glorious and all that, it would be what it is.
The mind is like the wind. You're trying to stop the wind, dressed as a kite. How are you going to do it?
Don't let your mind see through your eyes.
Whether we fear pain and suffering or not, pain and suffering will come to everyone. Why not keep our minds focused on where we want to go?
Your mind has a flood of questions. There is but one teacher who can answer them. Who is that teacher? Your silence-loving heart.
The mind has to be empty to see clearly.
Untilled ground, however rich, will bring forth thistles and thorns; so also the mind of man.
One of the functions of thought is to be occupied all the time with something. Most of us want to have our minds continually occupied so that we are prevented from seeing ourselves as we actually are. We are afraid to be empty. We are afraid to look at our fears.
To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.
In obedience there is always fear, and fear darkens the mind.
Since meditation offers relaxation, it helps to remove all tensions, stresses and strains of the mind. A ray of hope shines in the despairing mind and it becomes tolerant and restrained. In short, it can be said that the mind obtains fresh vigor or new life through the practice of meditation.
Perception is a mirror not a fact. And what I look on is my state of mind, reflected outward.
Mary heard God's word and kept it, and so she is blessed. She kept God's truth in her mind, a nobler thing than carrying his body in her womb.
