If we can cultivate a concern for others, keeping in mind the oneness of humanity, we can build a more compassionate world.

The explorers seek happiness in finding curiosities, discovering new lands and undergoing risks in adventures. They are thrilling. But where is pleasure found? Only within. Pleasure is not to be sought in the external world.

How can I make difference so that I may bring peace to this world that I love and cherish so much? A name flickers instantly in my mind.

The greatest security we can have in this world that we are in the grace of God, does not consist in the feelings that we have of love to Him, but rather in an irrevocable abandonment of our whole being into His hands, and in a firm resolution never to consent to any sin great or small.

The overwhelming problem in the world today, everyone knows, is terrorism, where people in the name of religion kill each other, kill others just to go to heaven, and thinking only they will go to heaven.

You have all the time in the world, but don't waste a moment.

The heart is like a flower. Unless it is open, it cannot release its fragrance into the world.

World peace must develop from inner peace.

To renounce the world is not easy. Wherever man is, the world clings to him.

Whatever you see, hear or experience in the world is ephemeral. Get in touch with the eternal substratum of everything.

In the world, there are countless Sadhus, Mahatmas, Mahapurushas, Saints, Yogis, and Walis, though the number of genuine ones is very, very limited. I am neither a Mahatma nor a Mahapurush, neither a Sadhu nor a Saint, neither a Yogi nor a Wali. I am the ancient One. The Highest of the High!

The world is impermanent. [All things change. Knowing this helps you see the end of any difficulty and thereby have hope.]

At present, the worldly man is helpless to achieve God-realization.

Increasingly, the world around us looks as if we hated it.

I could not think of being unkind, even to a mortal enemy. It would hurt me. I see so much unkindness in the world, and there is no excuse for me to add to it.

The happiness of God-realization is self-sustained, eternally fresh and unfailing, boundless and indescribable. And it is for this happiness that the world has sprung into existence.

Your world is all these elements. Of light and sound, of taste, smell, and touch, woven together in many dimensions on the fabulous loom of your brain. Your brain; the most complicated thing in the world, which you yourself grew...without even thinking about it.

Gently resist the temptation to chase your dreams into the world; pursue them in your heart until they disappear into the Self, and leave them there.

The truth is, every individual is imprisoned in a body. A body is a prison, a family is a prison, the world is a prison, and we are the prisoners of our own minds.

The Self is the heart, self-luminous. Illumination arises from the heart and reaches the brain, which is the seat of the mind. The world is seen with the mind; so you see the world by the reflected light of the Self.

Enter with me into the sufferings, not only of the people of India but of the whole world. Nonviolence is a more active and real fight against wickedness than retaliation whose very nature is to increase wickedness. It is not a weapon of the weak. It is a weapon of the strongest and bravest.

Correcting oneself is correcting the whole world. The Sun is simply bright. It does not correct anyone. Because it shines, the whole world is full of light. Transforming yourself is a means of giving light to the whole world.

Your duty is to pray for the welfare of the world and to work for it as far as it lies in your power.
